Life is like a journal, each page and event become entries into the journals of our lives. In the end, we’ll look back on it all and see the story that was told. Others will want to know what we did with the gift that God gave each one of us. I want to know too! Will we hear, ‘well done’?

Events come along in our lives that produce unique circumstances and
they become notable marks in the course of life that everyone will want to know about. For instance, most baby boomers can tell you where they
were and what they were doing when they found out that President
Kennedy was shot. Others speak to the day when President Reagan was
shot, and more, like me, will remember where we were when we
experienced the initial news of 9/11.
Each and every one of us has some day, some moment, where a time stamp was
made; an event, an occurrence in time that made an indelible impression. I have ones
that were left on and in me from September of 1997 and June of 1999. The first is
where I had my encounter with the Lord, rededicated my life and was filled with Holy
Spirit. The second was a very different event and one that lingers to this day…
After finishing a long day of work on a Friday and before retreating back to the confines of my home, I had briefly stopped by the former girlfriend’s house to say, ‘hello’, before heading home. The time was late but not midnight. I was still living in my childhood home that my parents had built. My arrival was just before the 10pm hour. The parents were watching the TV in their bedroom when they heard me come in. Being called out to, I walked in and extended my greetings.
The TV was on TBN Nashville and singing was the event on the screen. In a moment as simple as that, the rear upper left corner of the room was removed, and a curtain of space filled the gap. It was draped much like a large set of curtains you would find in a family room leading out to a deck or sunroom. That’s when out of the abyss of the night God spoke. As quickly as it happened, it vanished. Poof!
Blinking twice, I gazed down to the parental units laying in bed and asked them
promptly if they had heard that. “Did you just hear the Lord?” They did not. But needless to say, I did. It changed my whole course of life from that moment forward. In the pages of my life on that June night a moment was recorded. And my response to it was also registered.
Today, we are in extraordinary times. Groups of people assailing they are woke more
than the other. Each holding a supposed truth that clearly the other does not recognize. A plurality of all truths coming to a head to define, if in fact, they are just that.
In the U. S., we have an officially signed document by our founding fathers that declares a list of self-evident truths. It was a unified declaration that called for certain liberty for all men, women, and children. In a similar fashion, Jesus told us of certain truths too. We have a way to pray in Matthew 6; keys of the kingdom in Matthew 16; and the Spirit of Truth in John 16. “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth… and he will shew you things to come (John 16: 13).” We are about to write a few pages that the world will recognize in the future. It’ll be ones where we will answer, ‘what did you do? Where were you? What did it feel like? When did you know? How did you know?’
We can find some of these indicators in the book of Jeremiah. “And their nobles shall be of themselves, and their governor shall proceed from the midst of them; and I will cause him to draw near, and he shall approach unto me: for who is this that engaged his heart to approach unto me? Saith the Lord (Jeremiah 30:21).” From amongst the leaders, stars, nobles, a governor that shines above them will arise and God had put a desire for him to draw near.
This leader was chosen from amongst the others and his heart was right before God.
Many pretend to know the heart but only God truly knows. Samuel was admonished
before anointing David, don’t look at the outside of the person, but it is what comes from the inside. “For the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart (I Samuel 16: 7).”
But once the leader arises and seeks the heart of the Lord, his people will become
God’s people. “And ye shall be my people, and I will be your God (Jeremiah 30: 22).”
This is the revival or rather revolution of God’s change in hand, a solemn promise that
those that are of Him are His. This is important to note because of the next two
verses…
“Behold, the whirlwind of the LORD goeth forth with fury, a continuing whirlwind: it shall fall with pain upon the head of the wicked. The fierce anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have done it, and until he have performed the intents of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it (Jeremiah 30: 23-24).” The latter days… you will consider it.
In the pages ahead, I believe, we will be seeing a sovereign move of God. I believe it
will be a wonderful end time harvest. A move beyond the book of Acts that will last
generations. For those that are His, it will be a time of blessing; for those that will be
His, it will be a time of salvation; for those that are not it will be a time of fierce anger
and righteous judgment.
Yes, much like my two impressions from the last millennia, we are about to experience new and exciting ones as the body of Christ. Get ready. Get back to God. “Draw close to Him and He will draw close to you (James 4:8).” “It will last for but a moment in time and then, this too, shall pass.”
