Mmmmm, way back in the beginning of things it was You and I, in love. Back before this world, that we created, it was You and I. Back before we lit the sun, it was You and I. Back before the seas were parted, it was You and I. Back before Adam and Eve, it was You and I. It has always been You and I. There was never a time, that it was not, You and I. It was then that I stepped out from You to perform Your full will and then returned unto You once again, it was You and I.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God (John 1: 1-2).”
“I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father (John 16:28 KJV).”
“…for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world (John 17: 24b KJV).”
“ So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them (Genesis 1: 27 KJV).”
“…for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return (Genesis 3: 19 KJV).”
“But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we are the work of thy hand (Isaiah 64: 8 KJV).”
“…she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat (Genesis 2: 6 KJV).”

In the book of John, we get a deeper glimpse into the person of Jesus. It is the unique gospel out of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. It captures elements of Jesus that are revealed in time of prayer and listening. Today this message or journal entry will focus on a handful of verses that relate to this mysterious LOVE that is God and from God that we partake in.
I heard a story that in the beginning God laid down in the earth and cast His mold, His likeness was formed in the clay of the earth. This sent me searching… for it was a pearl of wisdom.
And in the clay of the earth did He form man. Just as the Word had put on flesh when He stepped out from the Father so did man when he was formed and inhabited the earth. At the inception of man, God placed a spirit inside of him. This spirit would call out to God just as God would call out to man in the cool of the day in the garden of Eden. Man had unity or fellowship with the Lord as He walked and conversed with His most beloved creation.
As Adam and Eve listened to a beguiling creature, it was then that they sinned. The first of the first fell in disobedience not long after getting started. This sin caused a breach between them and their creator. Their bodies became corruptible causing them to thread together fig leaves as a way to shield themselves from one another. A layer of separation was now in effect between man and God and with each other.
“…I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14: 6 KJV).”
“A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another (John 13: 34 KJV).”
“These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full (John 15: 11 KJV).”
“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you (John 14: 26 KJV).”
Jesus came as a light to this world to show a better way, His Father’s way. It was a joy for him to do so even unto the cross. That joy would remain as long as we remained in Him. That unity would come by His Holy Spirit and He would teach, remind, and lead us to share in Jesus’ joy! Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross became the bridge that removed our sin and shame between us and God. His Holy Spirit is the proof of it. They will know us by our love, agape.
The way back to fellowship with GOD the FATHER is through His Son, Jesus. This was and is love in action. He came to earth as a newborn baby, lived, died, and rose up on the third day, then ascended to heaven to the Father’s Right Hand. He came from God and returned to God and provided us the way back to His Father’s Hands and loving arms.
February 14 can be lost on us for so many reasons. But it is a day to celebrate love, love of one another, love of family, love of a Godly relationship, love of God, and so much more. It doesn’t have to be expressed in the way of the world, but it should be expressed in actions. Maybe a casual walk in the park, maybe making a favorite dish for a meal, maybe just taking time to listen a little bit more this day to one another…
Godspeed, The Journeyman
PS. May you always find a reason to celebrate love! Jesus did all the way to the cross! So let it be so in our own lives, we can learn to be a bit more loving both you and I.

John 14: 27 KJV “Peace I leave with you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
