In life, we experience fullness when we are attached. When we are in the moment, we can achieve so much more than when we are distracted. It is a gift this thing we call the present. We struggle, we fight, we love, we live, and we win. Yes, this blessed thing we call life is full. James said we were the first fruits (James 1: 18).

Recently, I have been on a task of sorts. Its called connecting. Touching heaven’s King and reaching out while being invested here. It is a vertical and horizontal relationship. It is something that I’ve dipped my toes into, but not fully engaged. I would say I’ve been tasting something and that it is sweet!

Investing more in the vertical, causes different outcomes here. The more I’m stretched the more uncomfortable I become. I use to ask for more of Him. It was what I wanted. More of Him. In return He answered. I want more of you too! You see, the patience of God knows no bounds. It can reach anywhere at anytime! And its time to submit our ways unto the Lord… drawing near unto Him, so He’ll draw near to you and me (James 4: 7-8).

In Ezekiel 2, God spoke to the man who had just seen the vision of a wheel within a wheel (Ezekiel 1: 16). He set before him a roll of a book and reminded him to speak what he was fed. And that prophet did eat and plainly spoke to the house he was called to speak too; his native folk, but in a strange land. They were of the exile that was foretold of long ago. Yes, it was these hardhearted people that God was punishing, but not wanting their ultimate destruction.

(Ezekiel 2: 7- 3:14).

Spending time in communion with Yahweh, Ezekiel reached out to the people of the Lord in the foreign land. His relationship produced fruit. It led to much discovery and the cause of God’s punishment in hopes, always hope, that they would turn from their wickedness and seek the Lord their God (II Chronicles 7: 14).

The Lord extended His mercies yet again. Even when His people did not know Him or seek Him. His design was to reveal more of who He was. Ezekiel lived out both sides of relationship when it came to his life. He sought God and spoke unto his people. God wasn’t through with them then and He isn’t done with them now.

Called to be the body of Christ, we need His Spirit to live and produce the first fruits He has designed us to be. “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead (James 2: 26).” May these days find you in communion with Him and may His favor be upon you!

Godspeed, The Journeyman

Ps. Today’s story comes from the subterranean levels of tilled earth. I hope this finds a home with you and if you get a chance to read beyond the bible, look up a book called “Living Salt and Light” by Derek Prince.
