less travelled...

Highways and byways help make up the interstate system that we have in the good ol’ U. S. of A. The main roads are huge arteries that carry mass volumes of traffic. The system is strong and fluid until a hiccup is thrown in the mix. This can leave vehicles and people stranded for hours on end, but overall, it is a healthy, fast, and mainly safe way to get from point A to point B.
On the other hand, you have the crossroads and country-roads. These roads are often less travelled but they can add extra miles to your trip. They can still get you from point A to point B, it’s just done with a few more stops, twists, and turns. Indeed, the highway and byway systems have you covered. If primary channels are shut, then the secondary roads become a valid option.
Life in Christ can be much the same way. Often converts and believers find themselves on the common road travelled by the masses. This isn’t wrong by any stretch of the imagination, but it leaves a road less travelled wide open! This road is where the stories of the bible come to life. It’s one where God calls you too and leads the way. The intent is a bit more personable. It doesn’t mean you don’t overlap the main arteries again or cruise parallel to them, it just means you are on a separate journey for the moment.
In this pulled away voyage, God is usually wanting to share, impart, correct, or grow you. It may be more than this too. It doesn’t make you better than the masses, it just reveals that you were created with a different purpose or intention. Boding on the off roads can change you and take you places you can’t see on the main streams of life. It takes a particular patience and love to trust that once you arrive, all will be where it should.
Paul often wrote to the believers informing them of best practices. Paying special attention to the details and not get caught up in being in this club or that. I was saved by Apollo! Nay, I was saved by Peter! Ha, I was saved by Paul! Yet these three did nothing of the sort. They merely shared a moment with the person on a road that was less travelled. Jesus did and does the saving. He just invites you and I along for the ride!
Let’s not get in the way of where we are going, but trust in Him Who has the wheel and knows where He is going! Keep trucking along! It isn’t over yet!
Godspeed, The Journeyman
